CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Felipe Netto (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Candido Portinari) and
Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior) netted goals within 40-seconds of each other in the first 15 minutes of tonight's game propelling the Royals past Lenoir-Rhyne University in a non-conference men's soccer match. The win is the third in a row for Queens University of Charlotte as they improve to 5-8 on the year, while the Bears drop to 5-8-1.
Netto was able to capitalize on a ball bobbled by Lenoir-Rhyne's goalkeeper, Ashley Peyton-Bruhl.
Julian Mitchell (Jacksonville, Fla., Wolson) was awarded the assists on the score. Chambers didn't let the Bears' defense rest as he attacked next dribbling the ball into the 18 and blasting it into the net. Netto picked up his third point on the match on the goal as he assisted on the play.
A steady down pour made it hard for either team to score another goal as no goals were scored in the remainder of play.
Lenoir-Rhyne outshot the Royals 14-9, but the Royals won seven corner kicks to the Bears' two.
Simen Walmann (Nevlunghavn, Norway, Toppidrettsgymnaset) totaled four saves in the net for Queens and was awarded the shut-out.
