CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte Head Softball Coach Stacey Schramm is pleased to announce the addition of four talented players to the class of 2014. Joining the Royals family are Kaityln Cheek from Henrico, Va., Emma Schultz of Silver Spring, Md., Courtney Sunderland from Sterling, Va., and Stephanie Supcoe of South Charleston, W.Va. All four players will join the rest of the team on campus in the fall.
The four new additions come in to play infield positions and all will have a chance to battle for a starting role and join catcher Emily Poulton of Temecula, Calif., who signed in November.
“This group of players is talented and the added competition with the returning players can only make our team stronger,” said Schramm. “The success we have experienced the past two season has been great, and with the addition of these four players, I can only expect to continue our and grow our level of play and successes.”

First Base
Cheek, a four-year starter on the varsity softball team, is a three-time All-Colonial District team member for her infield play at J.R. Tucker High School. The two-time captain was twice recognized as an All-Central Region player, once as Honorable Mention during her freshman season and Second-Team during her junior year campaign. Capping off awards during Cheek's junior season include a Second-Team All-Metro award and a DigitalSports.com Player of the Week award for the week of May 21, 2009. Cheek also earned two team awards, the Coaches' Award in 2008 and the MVP Award in 2009.
Matching her athletics honors, Cheek amassed just as many academic awards. Cheek is a three time All-Academic Colonial District Team award winner and a three-time All-Academic Central Region Team member. She is member of the National Honor Society, the National Math Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. During her junior year she was named the 11th grade Spanish Student of the Year for J.R. Tucker's Foreign Language Immersion Center. In her sophomore year Cheek collected the J.R. Tucker P.E. Award and was given the Henrico County PSAT Award.
Cheek is a two sport athlete having earned a varsity letter in basketball during her sophomore season. Her father, David Cheek, played football at William and Mary.

Schultz comes to Queens having been named to the Washington Post Montgomery County All-Extra First-Team in 2009 and to the All-Gazette Softball Second-Team in both 2008 and 2009 for her play at Pain Branch High School. She was also award the All-Around Achievement Award. Academically, she will graduate in the top five percent of her class and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Catcher
Sunderland is the four-year starting catcher for Potomac Falls High School. For her efforts behind the plate she has been named to the Second-Team All-District during her sophomore year and First-Team All-District her junior season. Following her sophomore year the team presented her with the Unsung Hero Award. During her junior year as the team captain she picked up three more honors including being named to the First-Team Loudoun All-Extra team, the Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention squad and was given the Coach's Award.
For her career she holds records at Potomac Falls including a .500 batting average, the most triples in one season, three, and the most homeruns, seven, for a career.
Stephanie Supcoe
South Charleston, W.Va.

Infield
Supcoe is a two-sport athlete, soccer and softball, from Charleston Catholic High School. During her freshman season Supcoe was given the team Honorable Mention award. Charleston Catholic's soccer team captured back-to-back state championships with Supcoe's help. For her soccer play, she was named W.Va. State Honorable Mention.
