This is the second consecutive year Queens advanced to the NCAA tournament and was eliminated in the second round.

The Royals (26-25) had three hits in the contest and the first game from Carrie Beth Richie (Fayetteville, N.C., Northwood Temple Academy) in the bottom of the second inning. Richie singled then was advanced by Amanda Bowman's (Kernersville, N.C,, Glenn) fielder's choice. With the game-tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position, the Queens offense closed the inning with a strike out and a fly out, stranding both runners.
The next one and a half innings went by without a hit from either team. Bowman broke the draught in the bottom of the fourth with a single up the middle. She stole second, but again the inning was closed out before she could cross home plate.
Shealy struck again, this time in the fifth inning of play. After Queens picked off Amber Hewitt at second base, Shealy hit a single-shot homer over the left field fence to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Megan Campbell (Raleigh, N.C., Athens Drive) responded for Queens with a single in the bottom half of the inning with two outs on the book, but again the offense couldn't get the jump start it needed to convert base runners to runs.
Dodge completed the game for Queens giving up two more hits in the last two innings. Overall, she struck out three, gave up six hits and falls to 17-11 on the season. Her counterpart, Shealy, improves to 16-6 on the year with win. Shealy retired two with K's and allowed three hits.
