CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens softball picked up some end of season honors at the 2010 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship banquet Thursday night in Hartsville, S.C. Sophomore pitcher
Chantel Dodge (Shalimar, Fla., Choctawhatchee) was named Co-Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Conference and senior second baseman
Megan Campbell (Raleigh, N.C., Athens Drive ) was named Second Team All-Conference.
Conference Carolinas All-Conference Teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Second Team.
For Dodge, this is her second time to be picked as a All-Conference player. In her freshman campaign she was named Second Team All-Conference. This season she shares the Pitcher of the Year honor with Limestone's Leah Quant. Dodge leads the league in batters struck out with 161, is second for most innings pitched with 159.2, and second in the league for wins with 15.
The award is the first honor for Campbell. This season Campbell has led the Royals in slugging percentage with .480, total bases, 24, and is in the top 10 of the league for RBIs with 25. On defense Campbell's senior leadership helped Queens throughout the season.
