Men’s lacrosse thumps Pfeiffer for first win

Nine points from Corey Geroy (Horseheads, N.Y., Horseheads) led the way for the Queens men's lacrosse team to dominate Pfeiffer, as they left Misenheimer with a 14-5 win on Saturday. The win places the Royal atop the Conference Carolinas standings with a 1-0 (1-1) record, while the Falcons fall to 0-1 (1-1) to start the season.

Four players scored two-plus goals for Queens, including hat tricks by David Weise (Chesapeake Beach, Md. , Huntingtown) and T.C. Whaley (Carlsbad, Calif., La Costa Canyon). Joe Taylor (Aurburn, N.Y., Auburn) went 12-of-15 in face offs and gathered two ground balls. Mike Delallo (Syracuse, N.Y., West Genesee) also had a successful day in the circle, winning three-of-six face offs. Clearing on 13-of-17 attempts, the Royals were able to control the ball and ultimately fire 31 shots. Brad Comfort (Corning, N.Y., Corning East) held the Falcons down on the defensive end, causing four turnovers and collecting two ground balls.

Brandon Macknew (Abington, Md., Bel Air) tallied 13 saves to pick up his first win of the season.

The Royals are back in action Friday the 26th, as they welcome St. Leo University to Queens Sports Complex for a 4 p.m. match.
