CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team drops to 3-4 (4-7) after a 3-0 loss today against Conference Carolinas opponent Lees-McRae College. The Bobcats, who are ranked sixth in the NSCAA Southeast Regional Polls, improve to 5-0-1 in conference action and 7-2-2 overall.
The Royals had a tough time connecting the ball with the back of the net tonight on their 12 shots. In the 88th minute
Bryan White (Albany, N.Y., Bethlehem Central)of the Royals turned on the wheels to break away from the defense and fire a shot. Tyler Gibson of the Bobcats made the save securing the shutout for Lees-McRae.
James Galvani of the Bobcats notched two goals in tonight's game. Galvani scored early in the game heading a cross delivered by Lee Squires for a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Galvani would open the second half with a goal as well as he taped a ball past Queens' keeper
Giancarlo Aristondo (Charlotte, N.C., South Mecklenburg). Squires was awarded his second assist of the game on the play.
David Palmer scored the final goal of tonight's game in the 64th minute. Luke Perry delivered a corner kick to Justin Jones who crossed the ball for Palmer's header into the net.
The Royals were outshot by the Bobcats 16-12. Queens won seven corner kicks to Lees-McRae's eight.
John Rush (Jacksonville, Fla., Bolles) saw time in goal in the second half contributing four saves. Aristondo left the game with three. Tyler Gibson and Thomas Rusling combined for four Lees-McRae saves in the game.
The Royals will have a week off before traveling to Limestone College next Saturday for a game slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
