ANDERSON, S.C.- A three goal second half lifted No. 18 Anderson University over Queens University of Charlotte by a score off 4-1 in Anderson, S.C. The Royals record is .500 with two wins and two losses and start Conference Carolinas 0-1. Anderson improves too an undefeated 5-0 and 1-0 in league play.
The Royals gave the Trojans a good scare by scoring just 1:48 into the game. Patrick Morgan (Iron Station, N.C., East Lincoln ) nabbed the first goal of the game unassisted. The shot was just one of six Queens was able to take during the 90 minute contest versus 19 for the home team.
Anderson answered the 1-0 lead and evened the score in the ninth minute of play from the foot of Ryan Messick. Anderson netted their last three goals in the second half of play.
The game was a physical one with 33 fouls, 18 against Queens and 17 for Anderson.
Chris Raines (Aurora, Colo., Cherokee Trail) started the games between the pipes for Queens. He made four saves and game up all five goals. Matthew Cavallo (Davidson, N.C., East Lincoln) wrapped up the last 12 minutes of play. On the Anderson side Benjamin Pepion played all 90 minutes and made one save while giving up one goal.
Queens travels to North Georgia on Tuesday for a 5pm kickoff.
