CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following the conclusion of the 2009 NCAA Southest Regional- Dahlonega, Queens had two players named to the 2009 All-Tournament team. Queens honorees, freshman pitcher Chantel Dodge (Shalimar, Fla., Choctawatchee) and junior outfielder Amanda Bowman (Kernersville, N.C,, Glenn), make up two spots on the 13 member team.
Dodge, who pitched two complete games, gave up just three earned runs in three games. She struck out 11 during the course of the tournaments and threw a total of 283 pitches. Dodge finishes the season with a record of 17-18.
Bowman started the tournament in center field, but was moved to left during the first game of the tournament against No. 1 North Georgia. Bowman had an error free three game stretch and scored the winning run in the 1-0 victory over Wingate.
Queens was knocked out of the tournament on Saturday night with a 7-1 loss to Augusta State. The Royals conclude their first year under head coach Stacey Schramm with a record of 27-26, the first winning record since the 2006 campaign.
