CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens women's lacrosse team flew past Converse College 23-4 Tuesday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The Royals improve to 4-11 on the year while Converse drops to 2-9 on the year. 
The Royals offense as led by Alyssa Hughes (Damascus, Md. , Damascus ), four goals and two assists, Brittany Philip (Painted Post, N.Y., East), two goals, three assists, and Kelley Duffey (New Hope, Minn. , Robinsdale Cooper ), one goal and nine assists. 
The four Valkyries' goals came from four different players. 
Queens jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first five minutes of play. The Royals offense added four more before Converse's Michelle Coloney notched the first visitor goal of the game. Queens netted six more goals before the end of the first half. 
Hughes scored three of her four in the first half. Caitlin O'Rourke ( Winter Springs, Fla., Winter Springs ), Phillip and Melissa Boulbol (Wellington, Fla., Palm Beach Central) each contributed two goals in the half. Goalie Rebecca Markle (Hampstead, Md., North Carroll ) made two saves in the half. Chelsea Lancashire (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Nease) came in for Queens in the second half between the pipes. She made one save and gave up three goals. 
Catherine Szabo (Alpharetta, Ga. , Centennial ), Kelly Wrightson (Germantown, Md., Damascus ) and Markle each scored one to start the second half. Converse added one in the 23rd minute of the half to make the score 18-2. 
Queens scored one in the 16th minute and the Valkyries answered back with two goals in two minutes. 
The game wrapped up with four Queens goals, two from Wrightson, in nine and a half minutes.
Converse's goalie Ashley Mercuri made two saves in the game. 
Queens won draw controls 21-8 and out-shot Converse 30-8. 
The Royals play their last regular season road game of the 2009 campaign at Belmont Abbey on Thursday, April 9. Start time is 4pm.
