WINTER PARK, Fla. - Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse edged Rollins 16-15 Saturday afternoon in Winter Park, Fla.

Rollins (1-1) was led by sophomore transfer BJ Neller with four goals and one assist.

The game started out with plenty of back and forth action as the Royals jumped on the board first with a LeBlanc goal just 36 seconds into the contest. The Tars answered and the teams exchanged two goals to end the first quarter 2-2.

But, the Royals jumped on the Tars as they sat back on their heels for the final ten minutes of second quarter play, leaving the Tars in a four point deficit entering into the half, 7-3.

Rollins came out of the break with a different mindset as a quick connection from Cooper Gilman to Neller closed the gap to 7-4. LeBlanc rallied a goal of his own to pull the lead to four once again, but the Tars would not give up.

Rollins went on a 4-0 run to come within one goal of Queens with 90 seconds left in the third quarter. The Royals tightened up and scored two goals in the last one and a half minutes.

In the last stanza Queens outscored the Tars 5-1 midway through, but Rollins countered with five straight goals of their own, again coming within one, 15-14.

Andrew Capallo (Bel Air, Md., C.M. Wright)scored an unassisted goal with 2:34 left in the game, giving Queens a two-goal cushion they would need. With 1:26 to play Gilman scored, closing in on the Royals 16-15.

The Queens defense stayed strong and held off the Tars to pick up the non-conference win.

Tyler Rauch (Lake Mary, Fla., Lake Mary) started in the goal for Queens, making six saves and giving up eight goals. Brandon Macknew (Abington, Md., Bel Air) played in the last 17 minutes of play saving four and giving up seven.
