Last second shot does Royals in during OT

Game tied at 63 at the end of regulation

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte's players turned in two double-doubles and a career-best 17 rebounds, but e efforts could not life the Royals (1-3/0-1CC) over Limestone College (2-1/1-0 CC) in the opening Conference Carolinas contest of the season. The visiting Saints come away with the win 67-65.

Marissa Hudley (Charlotte, N.C., Harding University) pulled down a career-best 17 rebounds with seven offensive boards and 10 defensive. Her previous best was 14 from Dec. 4, 2008 against Erskine.

Turing in double-double were Ashley McGuirt (Indian Trail, N.C., Providence Day) with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Jazmine Edmonds (Manassas, Va., CD Hylton) who had 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Of McGuirt's 13 points six came from a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line.

The game started off back and forth until Limestone was able to build a one-point lead into a 10 point lead in a matter of four minutes just under the midway point of the first half.

A three-point bucket by Queens' Erin Goldner (Matthews, N.C., Piedmont) sparked the Royals offense that came alive and held a one point advantage with 5:16 to go.

Ashley Robinson made a field goal to bring the Saints within one heading into half time.

Queens started the second half with a 13-3 run. The Saints cut the 13 point lead and eventually took over control of the game with a score of 49-47 at 9:48 to go. In the last 9:48 the game either switched leads or was tied five different times, with the ending result being 63-63 at the final horn, forcing overtime.

The overtime period was tied for a little under half of the five minute stanza and it all came down to a reset clock. In the final play the ball went out of bounds, stopping the clock at  .3 seconds. Limestone's Natashia Mitchell threw up a shot, made it and won the game for Limestone.

Limestone was led by Whitney Todd with 18 points while Brittany Miller had 13 rebounds.

On the night Queens out-rebounded the Saints 58-46, but turnovers plagued the Royals. Queens gave up the ball 26 times while Limestone turned it over just 10 times.
