WILSON, NC -- Queens University of Charlotte's volleyball team lost a five-set thriller at Conference Carolinas opponent Barton College Friday night, 20-25; 26-24; 25-19; 23-25; 13-15.
The Royals' attack was led by
Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ), 20 kills, and
Erinn Moore (Longwood, Fla., Lake Mary) who punched three aces in addition to her 50 assists.
Tori Hernandez (Gainesville, Fla., Gainesvillle) and
Alison Williams (Rougemont, N.C., Northern Durham) were a force upfront tallying nine blocking assists.
Despite a late six-point rally by Queens, Barton junior Mel Ritter (Wescosville, PA) put away her 20th kill to give the bulldogs a 15-13 win in the fifth set. Junior setter Macon Harmon (Durham, NC) directed the offense for the bulldogs dishing out 53 assists.
With the loss the Royals fall to 1-7 in conference and 5-13 overall, while the Bulldogs lift their record to 5-3 and 9-10 respectively.
Queens resumes play Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Conference Carolina rival Mount Olive College
