Men's Soccer Picks Up First W at Francis Marion

Berrier and K. O'Donnell score in 2-0 win

Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer won its first game of the season Friday night at Francis Marion University. The Royals came away with the nonconference win with a score of 2-0 and improve to 1-1-0 on the season. FMU falls to 0-2-1.

Queens scored the first goal of the game just over a minute into the second half. Logan Berrier (Easton, Md., Saints Peter & Paul )scored his first of the season when his shot was deflected off of a defender and over the goalkeeper.  David Palma (West Palm Beach, Fla., American Heritage )gets the assist for Queens.

Kevin O'Donnell (Prince George, Va., Prince George ) added a little insurance to the one goal lead in the 58th minute with a 12 yard goal. Heath Cox (Lubbock, Tex., Monterey )and Matthew Gwilt (Mooresville, N.C, Lake Norman )have the assists on O'Donnell's goal.

In the net for Queen was Jake O'Donnell (Prince George, Va., Prince George ). He made six saves in the 90 minute contest while facing 10 total shots, six on goal. FMU goalie Clark Richeson made three saves and saw 15 shots, six on goal.

Berrier led Queens with four shots.

The Royals will play again on Sunday, September 7 at UNC-Pembroke in Pembroke, N.C. Game time is set for 7pm.
