Men's Soccer Suffers First Conference Loss

Limestone College blanks Royals 3-0

GAFFNEY, S.C.- Queens University of Charlotte suffered its first Conference Carolinas loss Saturday in Gaffney, S.C. Limestone College blanked the Royals 3-0 to improve to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play. The loss drops Queens to 2-1-1 in conference play and 5-2-1 overall. 

Joel Moran (Kinross, Scotland) put Limestone up 1-0 in the 20th minute with a short shot. Dominic Casciato (Kent, England) and Ali Benson (Hull, England) got the assists. 

Tom Morris (Reading, England) snuck a shot past the Royals goalkeeper Dan Williams (Kingwood, Tex., Kingwood)in the 51st minute for the 2-0 lead. Benson scored six minutes later. Michael McEmerson (Glasgow, Scotland) crossed the ball from the right side of the box and Benson headed it for his sixth goal this season. 

The Royals edged the Saints on corner kicks, 5-3, but Limestone outshot the Royals 14-7. Williams recorded four saves for Queens, while Mark Davidson (London, England) posted four for the Saints. Luke Graycheck (Macon, Ga., Mount de Sales )led the Royals with two shots.

Queens travels to Brevard, N.C., to play Brevard College on October 1 at 4 p.m.
