Men’s Soccer Stumbles Against Belmont Abbey

Early goal gives the visitors the 1-0 win

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The game-winning goal was scored 22 minutes into play in the Conference Carolinas  pairing of Queens University of Charlotte and Belmont Abbey College tonight at the Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park. The visiting Crusaders (7-6/2-3 CC) defeated the Royals (6-3-1/2-2-1 CC) 1-0.

Emmanuel Yamson scored off of a cornerkick, one of Belmont's seven in the game.  Kyle Fenner is credited with the assist.

The Crusaders held the offensive edge not only in corners, 12-2, but also shots, 13-7. The Royals seven shots were spread out amongst four players, three with two shots, Heath Cox (Lubbock, Tex., Monterey ), Matthew Gwilt (Mooresville, N.C, Lake Norman ), Andrew Groff (Charlotte, N.C., Gaston Day School), and Kevin O'Donnell (Prince George, Va., Prince George )had one shot. 

Goalie Dan Williams (Kingwood, Tex., Kingwood)made fives saves in the contest for Queens while Belmont's Bryan Alenky made three.

Queens travels to Pfeiffer University on Saturday, Oct. 11, for a 2pm start with the Falcons.
