Bulldogs Sneak Past Volleyball

Royals take sets two and three

WILSON, N.C.- In the first of a two-match road swing the Royals lost to Barton College 3-2, 18-25, 25-13, 25-16, 22-25 and 12-15,  tonight in Conference Carolinas action. 

Queens slips to 4-19 overall and 4-10 in conference play while Barton improves to 5-14 overall and 3-7 in league play. 

For the Royals, junior setter Amanda Valbert (Champaign, Ill., Champaign Central )amassed 48 assists; senior Natalie Weiner (Greensboro, N.C., Page )notched 18 kills and five assists; and freshman Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley )tallied 11 kills. Senior Veronica Arenander (Cincinnati, Ohio, Walnut Hill )added four aces and senior Tamalea Pierce (Asheboro, N.C., SW Randolph )tallied 40 digs.

Barton's Liz Strange added 22 digs, seven kills and five aces for the Lady Bulldogs. Sophomore Cassie Blackmon netted 17 digs, sophomore Macon Harmon had five aces and sophomore Meagan Parrott tallied six kills and three blocks.

Queens faces Mount Olive College tomorrow at 2pm in Mount Olive, N.C.
