Queens Women's Tennis Defeated by 12th Ranked USC-Upstate

Melissa Rock and Lindsay King doubles duo gives Queens only win

CHARLOTTE, N.C., (February 3, 2007) —The Royals (0-2) tennis squad fell to 12th ranked USC-Upstate (2-0) 8-1 Saturday, Feb 3rd.  Again, the Royals walked into the match with a 0-3 deficit due to three forfeits they had to give up due to personnel issues.

"This is just an unfortunate situation," said Head Coach Ramona Staton.  "Starting 0-3 is difficult to overcome against a team like USC-Upstate."

Queens opens up winning at #1 doubles.  Doubles duo of Merissa Rock and Lindsay King (Queens) won a tiebreaking set 9-8 (5) over Anna Novo and Vivian Neuenschwander (Upstate) giving Queens their only win.

In singles play, no Royal could win a set off of the 12th ranked Spartan squad.
