Box Score FARMVILLE, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team secured a 3-1 victory over Longwood University at Jackson Field today to improve to 1-1 on the season. Today's win over the Lancers is the first in program history for the Royals field hockey team.

INSIDE THE MATCH
Queens took the lead in the second quarter, capitalizing on a penalty corner opportunity. Grace Wagner scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Olivia Gain, at the 22:25 mark to put the Royals ahead 1-0.
 
Queens extended its lead early in the third quarter when Delfina Gonzalez Fontan scored her first goal of the season at 30:43, assisted by Gain. The Lancers responded with increased offensive pressure, but Madison DeStefano made multiple saves, including a key stop on Hailey Flick's attempt at 33:59. However, Longwood cut the deficit to 2-1 with Channy Johnson scoring off a penalty corner at 38:42, assisted by Meghan Hyatt.
 
Queens secured its victory in the fourth quarter, when Liv Rainwater scored a goal at the 55:25 mark, assisted by Maddie Just. This goal, Rainwater's first of the season, came off a rebound and extended Queens' lead to 3-1. A strong defensive effort, including a crucial defensive save by Ines Stirling at 54:23, thwarted Longwood's attempts to respond.
