CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team opens ASUN play this weekend at Curry Arena, hosting Jacksonville on Friday night before welcoming North Florida on Sunday afternoon.
The Royals enter league play riding momentum after a sweep at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. Queens has been steady on both sides of the ball, hitting .214 as a team while averaging 13.6 kills and 16.6 digs per set. Callie DeSchryver (2.56 kills/set) and Emma Norris (.295 hitting, 2.48 kills/set) highlight the attack, while libero Tilley Collins (4.10 digs/set) paces the defense. Setter Tyler Peluso has been effective in distributing the ball with 5.41 assists per set.
Jacksonville (9-3) has surged early in 2025 behind one of the league's most efficient offenses, hitting .256 as a unit. The Dolphins are led by Rebekah Williams (2.62 k/s) and Claire Mrukowski (2.49 k/s, .316), while also pressuring opponents with 2.0 aces per set.
North Florida (6-7) provides another tough test. The Ospreys average 11.9 kills per set with Kendall Newbold (2.41 k/s) and Yarimar Francis Garay (2.10 k/s, .356) leading the charge. Setter Sofia Dawson distributes 6.42 assists per set, and UNF's defense is anchored at the net with 2.1 blocks per set.
With Queens holding statistical advantages in both blocking (2.5/set) and back-row defense (16.6 digs/set), the Royals look to make an early statement in ASUN play. Friday's opener against Jacksonville is set for 7:00 p.m., followed by Sunday's clash with North Florida at 1:00 p.m. inside Curry Arena.
