JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced the 2025 men's soccer preseason awards and coaches on Thursday afternoon. Queens goalkeeper
Matheus Rhormens was named the ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and All-ASUN Team, and sophomore
Leontios Zacharia earned Preseason All-ASUN honors.
Rhormens, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, is coming off a sensational freshman year where he was named First Team All-ASUN and All-Freshman. The 6-3 goalkeeper led the ASUN in shutouts (5) and saves per game (5.00) a season ago and earned a pair of ASUN weekly honors. Rhormens helped Queens post five clean sheets in conference play, a mark that had not been done in the league since Stetson in 2019.
"Matheus has made an immediate impact since joining our program, proving himself as an outstanding leader both on and off the field," said Queens head coach
Oliver Carias. "This award is well-deserved, as he played a key role in securing five clean sheets in seven conference matches and only conceding four goals against league opponents. He also broke an ASUN record that had stood since 2013. We look forward to his continued contributions as we pursue our program's goals this season."
Fellow sophomore
Leontios Zacharia was also named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team. The Limassol, Cyprus native is coming off an ASUN All-Freshman Team selection and looking to build upon an already successful career. Last season, Zacharia appeared in all 18 matches and made 15 starts, logging the fourth-most minutes on the team. Zacharia dished out three assists on the year, including his first as a Royal in a 2-1 victory over Radford. Zacharia helped a Queens defense lead the ASUN with six shutouts on the year.
"Leo has been a tremendous asset to our program," said Carias. "As a freshman, he elevated our style of play on both ends of the pitch, bringing creativity and vision in attack, along with the grit and determination to defend. He's a dynamic, creative midfielder who impacts every phase of the game. We're excited to have him back and can't wait to see the mark he'll make in his sophomore season."
