JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Queens softball dropped both games of a hard-fought ASUN doubleheader against the 19-1 North Florida Ospreys, falling 9-0 in the opener and 7-2 in game two at the UNF Softball Complex on Saturday, April 26.
GAME ONE: North Florida 9, Queens 0 (5 inn.)
- North Florida jumped on Queens early, scoring three runs in the first and two more in the second to trigger the run rule after five innings.
- At the plate, Queens recorded five hits but couldn't break through, leaving eight runners on base. Senior Emma Frye led the way offensively with a two-for-three performance, while Taylor Jones, Lindsey DeRoeck, and Madyson Daughtry added singles.
- Starter Abby Craver allowed five runs over two innings, and Kenzie Forrester gave up four more in relief.
GAME TWO: North Florida 7, Queens 2
- Queens fought hard in game two, tallying 10 hits and scoring in the third and fifth innings.
- After falling behind 4-0 after one inning and 7-1 after three, the Royals clawed back with RBI hits from Taylor Jones and Brooke Piper.
- Kaylee DeJesus fueled the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double.
- Jones shined with a three-for-four day at the plate and later stabilized the game in the circle, throwing two shutout innings with two strikeouts.
- Queens again stranded eight runners but out-hit UNF in the second half of the game.
ROYAL RUNDOWN
- Emma Frye collected four hits across the doubleheader, going 2-for-3 in each game.
- Taylor Jones went four-for-seven with an RBI and pitched two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts.
- Brooke Piper delivered an RBI single in game two while handling third base defensively.
- Jordan Dunn made her 15th start of the season in game two.
