Queens Prepares for Road Battle Against Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Queens University Royals (8-16, 2-11 ASUN) travel to Nashville to take on the Lipscomb Bisons (15-9, 8-5 ASUN) in a conference rematch. The Royals are looking to bounce back after falling 87-73 to Lipscomb in their previous meeting on January 18. Tip-off in Allen Arena is set for 2:30 pm.

THE MATCHUPS
The Royals look to even the season series after falling to the Bisons 87-73 in their first matchup in Charlotte. In the last meeting Jordyn Weaver lead the team with 19 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Weaver was active on the boards, grabbing six rebounds, including four on the offensive end. The Bisons have secured a spot in the ASUN Women's Basketball Championship, while the Royals aim to stay within reach of one of the final tournament berths.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (8-16 overall, 2-11 ASUN)
  • Queens averages 65.4 points per game, shooting 38.6% from the field and 27.1% from three, and they rely on forcing turnovers to create extra possessions.
  • As a team Queens pulls down 13.5 offensive rebounds per game, creating second-chance opportunities, while securing 24.0 defensive rebounds per contest.
  • Queens has been active defensively, forcing turnovers at a solid rate. The Royals average 8.1 steals and 3.0 blocks per game, helping create extra possessions.
  • Queens has been effective at getting to the free-throw line, making 13.0 free throws per game.
  • Leading the Royals is Jordyn Weaver, who has been the teams most consistent scorer and rebounder. Weaver averages 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shooting 48.9% from the field. She had a strong performance against Lipscomb in their previous meeting, scoring 19 points on 7-10 shooting.
  • Aylesha Wade is also one of the Royals top playmakers, leading the team in assists.. The senior guard contributes 9.4 points per game while dishing out 60 assists on the year.
  • Ana Barreto has also been an important piece, averaging 8.8 points per game, and she was effective against Lipscomb in the last meeting, scoring 17 points while going 8-for-17 from the field.

  • Offensively, Lipscomb is a high-scoring team, averaging 75.3 points per game overall and 76.5 in conference play. Their offense thrives on three-point shooting, knocking down 9.6 threes per game.
  • The Bisons are also an efficient free throw shooting team, converting 74.3% of their attempts, which has improved to 76.6% in ASUN play.
  • On the defensive end, Lipscomb allows 68.0 points per game overall and 70.7 in conference play. 
  • Lipscomb, however, takes care of the basketball very well, averaging only 14.0 turnovers per game, compared to their opponents' 16.1.
  • Leading the way for Lipscomb is Bella Vinson, who has been their most consistent performer. The senior forward is averaging 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 51.4% from the field and 38.5% from three. In ASUN play, Vinson has stepped up even more, increasing her scoring to 16.4 points per game while shooting 55.2% from the field and 48.1% from three.
  • Another key contributor is Claira McGowan, a reliable perimeter scorer. McGowan is putting up 13.2 points per game overall, and in conference play, she's averaging 14.2 points per contest while maintaining a 43.5% field goal percentage.
