THE MATCHUPS
Queens and Western Carolina meet for the fourth time in the Division I era, with the Catamounts holding a 3–0 advantage in the all-time series. The most recent meeting came on December 14, 2024, an 82-66 decision at Curry Arena.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (3–4 overall)
- Queens is averaging 61.3 points per game on 36.8 percent shooting and 32.5 percent from three. The Royals also convert 10.0 free throws per game.
- On the glass, Queens pulls down 38.9 rebounds per game, holding essentially even on the boards through seven contests. The Royals have recorded 40-plus rebounds in four games this season.
- Defensively, Queens is producing 7.7 steals and 3.1 blocks per game.
- Brenae Jones-Grant continues to be the most efficient scorer and interior anchor, averaging 13.1 points and 8.7 rebounds while shooting 59.0 percent from the field. She has already posted two double-doubles and owns a season high of twenty eight points.
- Ana Barreto provides perimeter scoring at 11.9 points per game and ranks among the ASUN's leaders with twenty made threes on 35.1 percent shooting.
- Jermany Mapp adds 9.6 points per game, including ten made threes and a near perfect effort at the free throw line 11 for 13.
- Dayuna Colvin is the team's lead distributor with 23 assists (3.3 per game), while adding 7.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and shooting 35.4 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from three.
- Freshman Breah Franks has become the top reserve option, averaging 4.3 points on 50 percent shooting, with a double figure scoring effort against Winthrop.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS (2-8 overall)
- Western Carolina enters at 2–8, averaging 58.2 points per game while allowing 67.6. The Catamounts shoot 34.4 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from three, making 5.8 threes per game.
- WCU's offense is led by Ally Hollifield (12.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG) and Taj Hunter (11.2 PPG), with both accounting for a significant share of the team's perimeter attempts.
- Ary Dizon adds 9.6 points and a team-best 5.3 rebounds, while Betsey Burnett contributes 9.5 points and nearly three boards per game.
- The Catamounts average 35.2 rebounds per game, but opponents hold a +4.2 margin, helped by a strong advantage on the defensive glass.
- WCU commits 19.3 per game and posts a –1.6 turnover margin. The Catamounts generate 7.5 steals, and also allow opponents 10.5 steals per contest.
