The Royals look to bounce back after a hard-fought road loss at James Madison, where they stayed competitive through two quarters against one of the Sun Belt's top programs.

THE MATCHUPS
Queens and Winthrop meet for the fifth time in program history, with the all-time series currently tied 2–2. The most recent matchup came on Nov. 13, 2024, when Winthrop earned a 69–52 win in Charlotte. Queens won the previous meeting in Rock Hill on Dec. 3, 2023, taking a 64–61 victory, while the teams split two early 1990s matchups. Saturday marks the Royals first trip to Rock Hill since that 2023 win.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (2–1 overall)
- Queens enters the Winthrop matchup averaging 58.7 points and 46.0 rebounds per game, showing clear strengths in defensive pressure and paint control. The Royals own a +5.7 rebounding margin and have held opponents to 33.7 percent shooting and 27.9 percent from three through three games, continuing their early-season identity as one of the ASUN's most physical defensive units.
- Ana Barretto leads Queens in scoring at 11.3 points per game, adding 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. She has been the perimeter engine for the Royals, shooting 33.3 percent from three on a team-high 8 made threes while creating spacing for the offense.
- Brenae Jones-Grant is averaging a double-double with 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor. She leads Queens in offensive rebounding and continues to anchor the interior, recording 20 defensive rebounds in the first three contests.
- Graduate transfer Hannah Hicks provides 7.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, along with team-highs of 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals.
- Dayuna Colvin has delivered one of the most complete stat lines on the roster, averaging 7.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and a team-best 3.7 assists per game.
- Freshman guard Breah Franks is averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds, offering efficient scoring off the bench and providing secondary rebounding help on the perimeter.
- Point guard Jermany Mapp adds 5.0 points and a team-leading 3.3 assists per game, committing just five turnovers in 76 minutes played.
- Defensively, the Royals have totaled 27 steals and 12 blocks through three contests and are allowing 60.7 points per game.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (1-2 overall)
- Winthrop enters Saturday's matchup at 1–2, coming off a dominant 74–37 win over Newberry after opening the season with road losses at Marquette and Chicago State.
- The Eagles were picked fourth in the 2025–26 Big South Preseason Coaches' Poll, their highest preseason projection under head coach Semeka Randall Lay.
- Junior guard Amourie Porter headlines the group as a Preseason First Team All-Big South selection, coming off a breakout sophomore campaign in which she averaged 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the field. She is averaging 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 50 percent overall.
- Mya Pierfax adds another scoring threat at 12.0 points per game, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor.
- Through three games, Winthrop is averaging 61.7 points while shooting 37.3 percent from the field. Their defense has been a bright spot, forcing 24.3 turnovers per game and posting a +8.7 turnover margin behind 13.0 steals per contest.
