Queens Hosts Lipscomb to Cap Four-Game Homestand

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals are set to return to Curry Arena for the final game of their four-game homestand. Saturday's matchup features an intriguing clash between the ASUN's top scoring offense in Lipscomb and Queens, who lead the league in several defensive categories. The Royals enter the contest with a 6-10 overall record and are searching for their first ASUN victory at 0-5 in conference play. Meanwhile, the visiting Bisons arrive in the Queen City boasting a strong 11-5 overall record and a 4-1 mark in ASUN competition.

THE MATCHUPS
This will be the second meeting inside the Curry Arena, coming last Feb. 1. Lipscomb posted a 76-63 victory. This is the first time since Queens moved to the ASUN that the two teams will play twice in a season.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (6-10 overall, 0-5 ASUN)
  • Queens is led by forward Jordyn Weaver, who averages a team-high 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 47.3 percent from the field.
  • Weaver is sitting outside the Queens record book with 552 career rebounds. Tiffany Adkins currently ranks 10th in program history with 562, Marissa Hudley is the program leader with 987 rebounds.  
  • Complementing Weaver is Lisbon, Portugal native Ana Barreto, a versatile player averaging 9.7 points per game and providing a reliable perimeter shooting option with 30 made three-pointers this season.
  • Kemia Ward has emerged as a defensive force, particularly in the paint, averaging 5.8 rebounds and contributing 29 blocks on the season, including a career-high seven blocks against FGCU.
  • Ward etched her name in the record books against FGCU, jumping to ninth place with 49 career block shots.
  • Queens also excels at defending the perimeter, limiting opponents to 32.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Ana Barreto and Magda Freire provide active hands on the perimeter, combining for 37 steals, while Kaitlyn Adams and Aylesha Wade add to the defensive depth.
  • The Royals defense ranks second the ASUN in block shots (3.38 per game) and ranks third in steals (8.75).
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (11-5 overall, 4-1 ASUN)
  • Lipscomb comes into the matchup as the conference leader in offensive production, averaging 75.7 points per game. The Bisons rank at the top of the league in three pointers made (10.4), shooting .344 percent.
  • The Bisons are fourth in the nation 3-pointers made per game with 10.4, and the 167 triples are tied for 10th-most in NCAA Division I.
  • Additionally, the Bisons have posted two games this season with 40 or more attempts from downtown.
  • Guard Claira McGowan and forward Bella Vinson are the team's top scorers, each averaging 13.3 points per game, with McGowan excelling from mid-range and Vinson showcasing her efficiency with a 50 percent field goal percentage.
  • Guard Jalyn Holcomb is another key contributor, averaging 9.7 points per game while shooting 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.
  • In conference play, Lipscomb has elevated its scoring to 79.6 points per game, led by McGowan 16.0 points per game and Vinson 15.4 points per game on 58.3 percent field goals.
  • The Bisons were picked to finish third in the 2024-25 ASUN Preseason Coaches and Media Polls.
