CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte Women's Basketball head coach Jen Brown is excited to announce the signing of Portugal native Magda Freire. 

"Magda is mature beyond her years," said Head coach Jen Brown. "She is a true student of the game. Magda's passion, work effort and skill set makes her a great addition to our program. 

The shooting guard won a national championship with Benfica and its senior league women's basketball team in 2024. Freire made an appearance in the U18 and 3x3 Europe championship along with the 3x3 qualifier for the Europe Cup.  

"I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to join the Queens family," said Freire. "Coach Brown was amazing throughout my process. She made Queens feel like home. It was easy for me to pick Queen's because academically it's a dream come true. I'm excited for this new chapter of my life. I've dreamed of this since I was a little girl. I guarantee you that I will give my heart and soul to this school and do whatever I can to help the team. I can't wait to see Royals nation cheering for us this season!"
