CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte has released its field hockey schedule ahead of the Royals' 2024 season which will begin on August 30. Queens' third Division I season will feature 16 regular season games, nine of which will be played at Bessant Field.
"We have a great lineup for our 2024 schedule," said Queens Head Field Hockey Coach
Brandi Kist. "With some familiar regional opponents like Longwood, App State, and Davidson, and new competition against Temple, Towson, Bryant, and Ball State, we have a challenging yet competitive season ahead. As we continue to build our DI program our schedule will challenge us for sure but with many opponents we have faced the past two years, it will be great to see our growth. As road warriors the past two seasons, it will be a welcome change to have nine home games plus scrimmaging in the preseason twice at home."
Following a pair of scrimmages at home against Longwood and Lander on August 25 and 27, the Royals will kick off their regular season in Philadelphia facing both Temple and La Salle on August 30 and September 1, respectively. Queens will then return to the Queen City for a weekend at home against Old Dominion on September 6 and Davidson on the 8
th. The game with ODU will be a true test for the Royals in their home opener as the Monarchs will be visiting Bessant Field for the first time. They concluded their 2023 season in the first round of the NCAA Championship falling to Maryland.
On the following weekend, the Royals will travel to take on Longwood and Towson before returning home for a four-game homestand at Bessant Field which will feature St. Francis, Limestone, JMU, and VCU. The Red Flash, Dukes, and Rams will be traveling to Bessant for the first time. Additionally, the Royals' last win was against the Saints during the 2022 season.
On October 12 and 14, the Royals will face Stonehill and Bryant on the road before returning home for their final three home games of the season. Queens will host Wingate and Ball State on the weekend of October 18. The Bulldogs will be entering just their third season of competition and it will be the first meeting between the two programs while the Cardinals will be facing the Royals on the road for the first time. On October 27, Queens will celebrate Senior Day against the Lock Haven Talons, who will be visiting Bessant Field for the first time as well.
Queens will close its 2024 season on the road at App State on November 1.
