CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (0-2) traveled to face No. 15 Iowa (3-1) this afternoon, falling 8-1. The Hawkeyes are the highest-ranked opponent that the Royals have faced since reclassifying to Division I.

Iowa quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the Royals in the opening six minutes of play before extending its lead to four with a goal in the second quarter.
Leading 4-0 out of the halftime break, the Hawkeyes scored early in the third to give the game a 5-0 score.
Maddie Just ended Iowa's run, scoring a goal for Queens in the 39
th minute on an assist from
Hensley Miller. Her goal was followed by two more from the home team, giving the game a 7-1 score heading into the final 15 minutes of action. Iowa's Dionne van Aalsum then scored her fourth goal of the day in the final quarter to give the game its final score of 8-1.
