Queens Releases 2025 Field Hockey Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte releases the official 2025 field hockey schedule, which features 11 home matches for the Royals.

Following a pair of scrimmages to test the waters, the Royals will kick off their 2025 campaign with a home game on Labor Day weekend, welcoming Longwood to Bessant Field on August 31.

The Royals will then break for a week before traveling to Iowa City for their first-ever meeting with the Hawkeyes on September 7. Iowa completed the 2024 season ranked No. 16 in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA DI National Coaches Poll. With little time for rest, Queens' first of six consecutive games at home will follow on September 9 against App State. Matches with UMass Lowell and Towson will follow that weekend on the 12th and 14th. The game against the River Hawks will be the first in program history.

The Queens Royals will have a chance to catch their breath for a few days before hosting Vermont and LaSalle on September 19 and 21, respectively. The Catamounts are another first-time opponent for the Royals, while Vermont is coming off of an  America East Title and NCAA Championship appearance. A weeklong break follows before Queens closes out the homestand with a game against Division II Coker on September 28.

The Royals kick off the month of October on the road with a neutral-site game against Bellarmine in Athens, Ohio, on the 4th before facing the Bobcats on October 5. The Royals and the Bobcats have not played each other since Queens' inaugural Division I season, and Bellarmine is on a four-game win streak after last falling to Queens in 2018.

Queens will travel to take on the Deamon Deacons for the first time on October 10 before returning to the Queen City to host Richmond on October 12. The Royals will also host UC Davis in the first meeting between the pair on October 19 before welcoming Division II Belmont Abbey from down the road on October 24.

Queens will close the regular season with a home game on November 1 against Saint Louis, sandwiched between road games at Georgetown (October 26) and Davidson (November 2).

The Royals picked up their first win over a Division I opponent last season, defeating Ball State, 3-2, in overtime. Additionally, six of the returning 14 started in at least half of last season's games, while all saw minutes on the field. Senior Sydney Smith is the leading scorer coming back, while Madison Destefano will be back in the cage after setting a single season record in saves (135) last fall.
