Royals Announce the Addition of Guard Shanelle Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball Head coach Jen Brown announced the signing of Shanelle Smith on Wednesday afternoon. The Staten Island, New York native comes to the Queen City after a stint at Monroe College.

"Shanelle brings some New York swag and toughness to our Royal family," said Head coach Jen Brown. "She is a relentless worker on both sides of the ball. Her ability to play multiple positions will add versatility and depth to our guard play. She competes and performs at a high level."

Smith averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in her last season at Monroe College. She helped propel the Mustangs to a 19-11 season and a NJCAA Championship appearance as the third leading scorer on the team.

"I am proud to announce my commitment to the Queens University of Charlotte Women's Basketball team," said Smith. "Huge thank you to Coach Brown and her staff for an incredible recruiting experience and their dedication to helping make my decision easier. I am excited for the opportunity to showcase my skills on this platform. I look forward to helping lead the team to a very successful season on and off the court!"
