Freire Leads Scoring as Royals Battle at North Alabama

THE SHORT STORY
Queens mounted a strong second-half response and briefly took the lead late, but North Alabama held on in the final minutes to secure a 63–60 decision Thursday night in Florence. The Royals erased an early double-digit deficit behind a dominant third quarter and had multiple chances down the stretch before the Lions sealed the contest at the free-throw line.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Magda Freire led all Royals with 13 points, knocking down five of eight shots and connecting on two three-pointers off the bench.
  • Jermany Mapp and Dayuna Colvin both turned in 40 minute efforts, each adding 12 points, giving Queens four  players in double figures.
  • Hannah Hicks rounded out the scoring effort with 10 points and five rebounds.
