THE SHORT STORY
Queens weathered an early Stetson surge Thursday evening and leaned on its defensive effort to keep the game within reach throughout the first half. The Hatters continued to apply pressure after the break, but the Royals stayed persistent and mounted a late fourth-quarter push before Stetson secured a 69–61 win in Curry Arena.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Dayuna Colvin led the Royals in scoring, recording 16 points, three rebounds and two steals.
  • Jermany Mapp scored 12 points, making two three-pointers in the process.
  • Magda Freire recorded her season high in points, dropping 11 off the bench.
  • Hannah Hicks was a notable paint presence as usual, scoring eight points and snagging seven rebounds.
  • Imani Morris made an impact off the bench for the Royals, scoring two points and grabbing four rebounds while recording a blocked shot in just nine minutes of action.
  • Brenae Jones-Grant contributed 18 minutes, recording eight points and making three of her four free throw attempts.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
  • After being held scoreless by the Hatters for the first four and a half minutes, Jermany Mapp knocked down a mid-range jumper to put the Royals on the board.
  • Trailing 11-2, Queens went on a 9-3 run over the final three and a half minutes of the first half, capped off by a half court buzzer beating three-pointer at the end of the first by Dayuna Colvin.
  • Stetson took control of the game in the third quarter, scoring 18 points on 57% shooting and holding Queens to just three made field goals.
  • Down 52-32 with the clock running out in the third quarter, Alyssa Lewis drilled a step back buzzer-beating three-pointer for her first points of the game.
  • Trailing by 17 with seven and a half minutes to play, Jermany Mapp drilled back-to-back three-pointers to give the Royals a pulse on the offensive end.
  •  With five minutes to play, Magda Freire stole the ball and went coast to coast, maneuvering around a Stetson player for a nifty finish to cut the Hatter's lead to 13.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • In the 6th ever meeting between the two programs, Queens fell to 2-4 all time against Stetson.
  • Jermany Mapp inched closer to the thousand point mark on her career, now sitting at 922.
  • Alyssa Lewis recorded her first career start.
  • The Royals got to the charity stripe 21 times, making their free throws at a 67% clip.
