Softball Heads Back in Conference Play Tomorrow Afternoon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Embarking on their sixth, seventh, and eighth games in the span of a week, Queens looks to jump back into the conference win column against the North Florida Ospreys on Friday afterrnon.

RECORDS:
North Florida: 22-8, 6-0 ASUN

Queens: 13-15, 0-6 ASUN

GAME NOTES & QUICK FACTS
Queens:

- The Royals were able to snap a four-game losing streak at The Stick on Tuesday against out-of-conference foe Western Carolina. Queens knocked off the Catamounts with an extra inning 1-0 victory in game one and then 4-0 in game two. Jordan Dunn and Autumn Courtney pitched complete game shutouts in both matchups. Graduate senior Kayla Smith moved from shortstop to catcher for the doubleheader and made an impact in the first game with a triple in the bottom of the eighth inning and then was able to score on a throwing error by the WCU centerfielder.
- Courtney shutdown the Catamounts in a complete game shutout that included twelve strikeouts and only two hits allowed. The sophomore moved to the top of the leaderboard in Division I in strikeouts with that performance. She has now struck out 158 batters this season, which moves her ahead of Stanford's NiJaree Canady (152).
- Dunn looks to be hitting her stride during this home stretch. Over the weekend, the junior Henderson, NC native pitched 15 combined innings against North Alabama and Western Carolina and did not give up an earned run. She has not allowed an earned run since the second inning of the March 16 second game of the doubleheader at Florida Gulf Coast. That has her consecutive inning streak of no earned runs at 19.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT — NORTH FLORIDA
North Florida:
- The Ospreys are riding a twelve-game winning streak into the Queen City, including a 6-0 start to Atlantic Sun play. North Florida has swept through the Tennessee teams in the conference the last two weekends, Austin Peay (1-0, 3-2, 5-2) and Lipscomb (11-1, 6-0, 3-0).
- Graduate senior outfielder Shannon Glover set multiple North Florida records in the most recent win over the Bison on Sunday. Glover set the program's Division I program record (since 2005) for career home runs (27) and runs batted in (129). The preseason All-ASUN First Team selection is now in position to become the all-time program record holder in those categories. She only needs one more home run and run batted in each to tie the all-time records and two each to be in first place alone. Glover already holds the all-time program record in total bases (347).
- Junior pitcher Allison Benning leads the ASUN in victories (14), which is tied for third in Division I this season. The Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week on March 18 is also second in the league in strikeouts (112) and fourth in innings pitched (100.1) and ERA (1.53).
