Queens Drops Road Contest at Jacksonville

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  — In a hard-fought matchup on the road, Queens University of Charlotte battled against Jacksonville but ultimately fell by a 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 21-25) decision.

SET BY SET RECAP
Queens started the match with fight, but was edged out by Jacksonville by a close 25-23 score. Queens managed 11 kills in the set, with standout plays from Jordyn Johnson and Kayla McDuffie. The Royals built momentum with a few successful blocks and service errors from Jacksonville, keeping them close. However, a late surge from Jacksonville, fueled by leading attacker Breanna McDonough, gave the Dolphins just enough edge to seal the first set victory.

Set two saw a resilient Queens squad, rallying back and tying the score multiple times throughout. The Royals built a lead midway through with McDuffie and Emma Norris on the attack, allowing Queens to edge ahead, 15-11. Jacksonville, however, managed to claw back with strong blocks and crucial kills, narrowly taking the set 25-22 despite Queens' strong blocking presence, led by Anna Grace Sparks and Norris.

Queens came out strong in the third set, jumping to a quick lead with kills from Johnson and Norris, creating excitement for a potential comeback. They maintained a close score through the set, keeping the Dolphins on their toes with aces from Kendall Buish and critical digs from the back row. However, Jacksonville's strong offensive push in the final points saw them close out the match with a 25-21 win.
