CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's outdoor track and field teams shined as they made their D1 debut at the Charlotte 49er Classic. The Royals had multiple top-10 finishes and a first men's track and field event winner.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mark Schittenhelm became the first Royal to win a men's track and field event in Queens Division 1 history as he won the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.13.
- Melanie Welsing placed first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.49
- Halle Perry won the women's heptathlon with a score of 4126.
- Mia Milasinovic placed fourth in heptathlon with a score of 3958.
- In the women's 10000m, Weronika Ptaszynska, Cara McDonald and Kira Ribbink each placed second, third, and fourth in the race.
- Chloe Widmann placed third in the 5000m open with a time of 18:51:53.
- Christina Palmer placed fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 39.62m.
