CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens set the tone for another spectacular night in the pool, breaking three records and sweeping all relays.
Queens kicked off the evening continuing right where they left off, as both the men's and women's 200 freestyle relay squads earned first-place finishes, with the men's quartet setting a new meet record.
Matej Dusa,
Alex Kunert,
Daniel Meszaros, and
Alexander Bauch combined for a first-place, record-setting time of 1:17.57. The women's side, consisting of
Danielle Melilli,
Monica Gumina,
Caroline Lawrence, and
Ryley Heck followed suit with a top time of 1:29.37.
In the men's 100 fly, Kunert tied for second with a time of 47.44. Dusa came in right after him at 47.61, followed by
Conner Wang in fifth with a time of 47.81.
Jan Delkeskamp dashed to a first-place finish in the men's 400 IM two events later, touching the wall at 3:47.81.
Yannick Plasil also cracked the top-three with a third-place time of 3:50.56, with
Andreas Marz rounding out the top-five at 3:52.83.
On the women's side,
Tova Andersson claimed fourth in the event, finishing at 4:22.33.
Queens once again dominated in the 200 free, earning the top-three spots as they did in prelims, as Kunert continued his hot day by breaking the championship record, coming in first at 1:34.02.
Luke Erwee was shortly behind in second at 1:36.33, while
Daniel Meszaros rounded out the top-three with a time of 1:36.45.
Monica Gumina dominated the 200 free on the women's side as she would also place first, hitting the pad at 1:47.15.
Giulia Grasso earned a chunk of points for Queens as well with a fifth-place time of 1:49.30.
The Royals enjoyed a consistent flow of top finishes all evening, as the quarter of
Alexander Bauch,
Balazs Berecz,
Alex Kunert, and
Daniel Meszaros would break a record for Queens' third time in the evening session, as they placed first in the 400 medley relay with a record-breaking time of 3:08.47.
The women's 400 medley relay team helped Queens finish the evening on a high note, as
Monica Gumina,
Annika Huber,
Sophia Lange, and
Danielle Melilli would claim the top spot with a time of 3:36.64.
