GREENSBORO, N.C. — This week, 13 swimmers represented Queens University of Charlotte at the 2023 U.S. Open from Nov. 29-Dec. 2. The event, held in Greensboro, N.C., serves as a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Danielle Melilli made her mark in the Women's 50 Meter Freestyle time trials on Saturday, Dec. 2. The fifth-year swimmer from Douglasville, Ga. swam a 25.55, a personal-best time which qualifies her for the 2024 Olympic Trials.
Daniel Meszaros and Annika Huber also each swam personal bests in the Open. Meszaros passed a previous best of 23.38 he swam at the More Nostrum Monaco on May 20, 2023 in the 50 Meter Freestyle on Thursday and also beat a time of 49.98 at the LEN European Championships on Aug. 12, 2022 in the Men's 100 Meter Freestyle on Saturday. Huber surpassed a previous best of 1:11.98 she swam at the German National Age Group Championships on May 28, 2019 in the Women's 100 Meter Breaststroke event on Friday.
