CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The top-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team will begin their journey to capturing their eighth start South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship title tomorrow facing fifth-seeded Lincoln Memorial University in the semifinals.
The Royals received a first-round bye after closing the regular-season with a perfect 17-0 record, earning their seventh SAC Regular-Season Championship. The closed with a 24-3 Senior Day win over Catawba.
This season, Queens is led by a pair of super seniors in
Rebecca Kinsley and
Kyleigh Masteran. Kinsley, an attacker, totals 106 points on 58 goals and 48 assists while Masteran, a midfielder, has 95 points on 75 goals and 20 assists. Kinsley set a new single season point record this year while Masteran set a new single-season goal record.
On the defensive end,
Grace Guglielmo leads with 33 caused turnovers and 37 ground balls. She also has 82 draw controls. In goal,
Sharn Muffett is 8-0 on the year with a .526 save percentage while
Caroline Kraemer is 9-0 with a .462 save percentage.
The Railsplitters enter with a 12-6 overall record after defeating fourth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in triple overtime on Tuesday night. LMU is led by Ali Van Der Ziel who has 107 points on 65 goals and 42 assists. Avery Van Der Ziel follows with 52 points on 45 goals and seven assists.
In goal, Elle Miller is 7-3 with a .419 save percentage while Keegan Gillman is 5-3 with a .378 save percentage.
Queens leads the all-time series with the Railsplitters, 7-0.
