No. 11 Royals Sweep Limestone Remaining Unbeaten

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's team won their ninth straight match via shutout with a 7-0 victory over Limestone University on Tuesday afternoon at the Howard Levine Center. The Royals improve to 9-0 on the season and 7-0 in South Atlantic Conference action.
 
"This was a good overall performance from our women," said Head Coach Billy Boykin. "They took control of the match in doubles and never let up."
 
The Royals won the doubles point by collecting a 6-2 triumph at No. 1 by Jill Morse and Marie Bertran De Balanda, while Viktorija Veselinova and Caity Klaassen dominated with a 6-3 score at No. 2. On No. 3 doubles, Hanna Axelsson and Amelie Allard finished off the great start with a 6-4 win.
 
Singles play began with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Viktorija Veselinova in the first flight before Jill Morse stormed back after losing the first set to win her singles match 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 win at No. 2.
 
Axelsson added to her season wins with a 6-3, 6-1 victory to seal her point for the team, while both Marie Bertran De Balanda and Katya Khramtcova each won their singles matches 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2, 7-5 respectively. To continue the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win, Grace Forbes clinched the match for the Royals

 "I continue to be proud of our girls for the mental toughness they show even when they get down a few games and aren't playing their best tennis," said Assistant Coach Daniel Belsito. "They always stay positive and believe in their ability to fight back and it makes me proud as a coach to see their resilience as a unit."

Queens remains at home for their next match as they host Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, April 2 at the Howard Levine Center.
