CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team remains ranked No. 1 in the ILWomens/IWLCA Division II and Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Polls this week. This is the second straight week that the Royals have topped both polls, and it comes following a week where they improved to 9-0 on the year and 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Queens is one of six teams in the ILWomen/IWLCA Poll that remain unbeaten, and they received 17 first-place votes.
The Royals defeated Lenoir-Rhyne, 24-2, on the road last week, opening the game with a 10-0 run in the first quarter.
Kaitlyn Hardin led the Royals in points with eight on three goals and five assists.
Rebecca Kinsley led in goals with five to go along with two assists while
Kyleigh Masteran added four goals and two assists.
Shannon Kingston also totaled four goals and an assist and
Shannon Donovan added four points on a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
The Royals currently have the fourth-ranked scoring offense in the nation averaging 18.62 goals per game. They also have the top-scoring margin in the nation defeating teams by an average of 13 goals. Queens also ranks second in the nation in draw controls per game averaging 18.56 on each outing.
Kinsley ranks ninth in the nation in points per game averaging six this season while
Kyleigh Masteran is ranked 10th in goals per game averaging 4.25. Kinsley also ranks seventh in assists per game averaging 2.75.
On the defensive end, Carline Kraemer is 9-0 in goal while
Grace Guglielmo leads with 23 caused turnovers. She also leads in ground balls (22) and draw controls (47).
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday at Coker. They will return home to face Tusculum on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 4 p.m.
