No. 9 Royals Down Mars Hill 6-1 to Stay Perfect

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 9 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team (4-0 overall, 3-0 South Atlantic Conference) remained unbeaten with a 6-1 victory over Mars Hill (5-6 overall, 1-4 South Atlantic Conference) on Friday afternoon. In the most recent ITA Rankings, the Royals jolted up to No. 9 in the country following an outstanding start to the young season.
 
For the third time this season, the Royals swept the doubles point as Queens has yet to lose the early doubles advantage this season. On the No. 1 court, the pairing of Jill Morse and Marie Bertran De Balanda picked up a 6-1 victory. The duo was recently ranked by the ITA as No. 47 in the country. The dynamic duo remained perfect on the No. 1 court. Rounding out the doubles action was Viktorija Veselinova and Caity Klaassen with a 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles while Amelie Allard and Hanna Axelsson dropped the Lions in No. 3 action 6-4.
 
In singles play, senior Viktorija Veselinova stayed perfect in No. 1 action with a 6-1, 6-3 victory which clinched the win for the Royals. Jill Morse, Hanna Axelsson, Caity Klaasen, and Katya Khramtcova would each pick up singles victories as well for the Royals.
The Royals will return to the courts on Wednesday for a critical South Atlantic Conference showdown with Wingate at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
