CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University women's basketball team (6-17, 5-17 SAC) is down to its final two games of the regular season and will travel to Hickory, N.C., to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears (10-14, 9-13 SAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
LAST TIME OUT
- Queens fell 67-64 in a hard-fought battle with Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, Feb. 19.
-
Kalaya Hall led all on the court with 21 points and five assists, while
Jori Wilks totaled 11 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Kennedy Fuller chipped in nine points and
Finley Lefevers added eight points and three rebounds.
Amari Davis poured in five points and seven rebounds and
Malea Garrison grabbed 10 boards while scoring seven points.
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 20.6 points per game this season to rank fourth in the conference in the category. Additionally,
Kristy Hamze is averaging 12.1 points per game.
Taylor Stevens ranks first in the league with 4.4 assists per game.
-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked.
-Head Coach
Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens enters the year in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners.
ABOUT THE BEARS
-The Bears defeated Lincoln Memorial, 79-72, yesterday evening. Brandi Hudson and Emily Harman combined for 43 points, including the last 14 for the Bears down the stretch.
-Leading the Bears this season on the court are Hudson and Harman. Hudson is currently averaging 17.5 points per game while Harman is averaging 15.8 points per game. Maddie Dillinger is chipping in with 9.1 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- Wednesday marks the 24th meeting between these two programs with LR leading the series 23-10.
- The Bears took the first game this season, 78-68, inside Curry Arena. Hall finished with 25 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks while Hamze added 19 points and two steals. In her starting debut, Fuller chipped in eight points, three rebounds, and two steals. A trio of Royals led under the glass as Garrison, Lefevers, and Wilks each had six boards.
- The Royals' last win over the Bears came on Nov. 30, 2019, when they won 72-57 inside Curry Arena.
