Royals Look to Bounce Back in Home Game with Bears

CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (6-10, 5-10 SAC) will be looking to get back in the win column on Monday, Jan. 31 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne University (6-11, 5-10 SAC) inside Curry Arena.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- Junior guard Kalaya Hall had an impressive scoring night for the Royals, recording 43 points to set a new program single-game record again last Monday evening as the Royals fell to Limestone University by a score of 98-79.
 
- In addition, Kristy Hamze finished with 21 points and five steals while Finley Lefevers chipped in 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Taylor Stevens dished out six dimes before exiting the game due to an apparent injury.
 
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 20.2 points per game this season. She ranks second in the league in points per game and has recorded double figures in scoring in 13 games so far this season for the Royals. Prior to scoring 43 points at Limestone, Hall scored 41 against Anderson University.

- Additionally, Hamze is averaging 11.8 points per game, while Stevens ranks first in the league with 4.6 assists per game.

-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked. 
 
-Head Coach Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens is in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners this season.

ABOUT THE BEARS
- The Tusculum Pioneers defeated Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, 78-51. Brandi Hudson scored 24 points for the Bears. 

- Hudson leads the Bears on the court averaging 16.5 points per game, while Emily Harman is adding 15.1 points per game and 5.8 rebounds. Maddie Dillinger is chipping 8.9 points per game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
- Wednesday marks the 33rd meeting between the Bears and the Royals. The Bears are leading the series 22-10.

-The Royals are on a three-game losing streak in their matchup with the Bears which they are looking to snap on Monday.
 
-In their last meeting on Feb. 24, 2021, the Bears defeated the Royals 71-61. The Royals were led by Hall, who scored a season-high of 30 points after finishing 9-of-17 from the floor, 4-of-7 from the three, and 8-of-11 from the charity stripe.
