RESULTS
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field teams had a great day of competition to close out the Carolina Challenge recording seven NCAA DII provisional marks and breaking three school records.
For the women,
Lucy Walliker set a new school record while simultaneously recording a DII provisional in the high jump with a mark of 1.73-meters (5-8). She finished fifth in the high jump invite and now sits seventh nationally in the event.
Fatima Alanis ran two races within an hour to record two DII provisional marks. Alanis would take second in the mile in 4:53.53 and second in the 3,000-meter run in 9:37.21. She now sits ninth nationally in the mile and seventh in the 3,000-meter run.
Stevie Lawrence-Wrist also ran in the women's 3,000-meter run, finishing third in 9:37.21. Her time was a new personal record by six seconds and it was a DII provisional mark.
For the men,
Martin Knauer took second in the shot put invite with a mark of 18.13-meters (59-5.75). His provisional mark ranks fifth nationally.
In the men's pole vault invite,
Simon Rey set a new school record with a provisional mark of 4.80-meters (15-9). He ranks 18
th nationally in the event.
Mathurin Boutte made his track and field debut today running in the men's 3,000-meter. He finished the race eighth with a time of 8:19.51 which was also a provisional mark. He ranks 12
th nationally in the event.
Finally, the Royals' 4x400 relay team closed the day setting a new school record after finishing ninth in 3:19.76. The team was made up of
Niklas Klei,
Dionysius Rolle,
Stefan Jungmichel, and
Mark Schittenhelm.
The Royals will have a few athletes competing at tomorrow's JDL Flat is Fast meet to close out the weekend.
