ALLENDALE, Mich.- The 2021 NCAA DII Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships kicked off today with three of the Royals' nine competing at the Championships seeing some action. Elise Ulseth competed in the heptathlon while Jan Lukas Becker and Fatima Alanis both ran in the 10,000-meter run.
 
Through four events of the heptathlon, Ulseth sits third with 3,214 points. She opened the competition earning 966 points in the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 14.09 seconds before securing 842 points in the high jump with a mark of 1.69 meters. She then recorded a toss of 10.41 meters in the shot put for 556 points before ending the day grabbing 850 points in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.41 seconds. Ulseth will complete the heptathlon tomorrow as the group competes in the long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run.
 
Next, Becker competed in the men's 10,000-meter run finishing in 29:25.83 for 10^th place. Becker's finish earned him second-team All-American honors.
 
Alanis was the last Royal to compete today racing in the women's 10,000-meter run. The freshman crossed the finish line in 34:10.69 for third place and All-American honors. Her time was also a new personal record and ranks second in Queens program history.
 
The NCAA DII Outdoor Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships will continue through Saturday, May 29. The remaining schedule of events for Queens' athletes is listed below. Live video and results will be available for the entire Championship event.
