Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WISE, Va. - The Queens University of Charlotte Royals softball team (6-18, 2-13 SAC) fell to UVA Wise (12-15-1, 5-9-1 SAC) this afternoon in both games of their South Atlantic Conference doubleheader.
 
Game One: UVA Wise 14 – Queens 1
The Cavaliers came out hot in the first inning, using 10 hits to score 12 runs. Four players from UVA Wise hit home runs in the inning.
 
The Royals would never quite recover though Haley Hmiel would get Queens on the board with a home run in the top of the fourth.
 
Kate Hunter and Shannon McGuire both saw action in the pitching circle. Hunter recorded the loss while McGuire finished with three strikeouts. Raychel Lapallo recorded the win for the Cavs with one strikeout.
 
Game Two: UVA Wise 5 – Queens 2
Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when the Cavs recorded a pair of home runs and double to build a 3-0 lead. UVA Wise then added two more runs to the board in the bottom of the fourth extending the lead to 5-0.
 
Queens got on the board in the top of the sixth when Kayla Smith homered to left field, recording two RBI. The 5-2 score held until the seventh.
 
Khristen McPherson, Haley Nelson, and Victoria Elder all pitched in game two. McPherson recorded the loss, while UVA Wise's McKenna Falwell recorded the win after totaling eight strikeouts.
 
The Royals will be back in action Sunday, April 11 to take on Tusculum University. The game is scheduled to start at 1p.m. back at The Tuck.
