CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 20
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team opened South Atlantic Conference play with a dominant 7-0 sweep of Newberry College on Thursday afternoon at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.

Billy Boykin. "We are making progress each week and playing sharper. We're looking forward to more competition."
Queens won two of three flights in double play to earn the point, highlighted by identical 6-1 wins at No. 1 and 2 from

Klaassen opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the fourth flight, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 from Davidzenka. Veselinova was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in the top flight before Fleyer collected a marathon 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 victory at No. 2.
Grace Forbes (7-5, 6-2) and
Kate Halickman (6-2, 6-3) finished off the sweep for Queens with wins at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
Queens will head to Hartsville, S.C. to continue conference play on Saturday with a Noon matchup against Coker University.
