CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following outstanding performances at the 2021 Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy over the weekend, Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimmers
Jan Delkeskamp and
Tova Andersson were awarded Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmers of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday night.
At the frenzy, the pair combined to win nine finals trials while setting three event records. The dominant performances helped guide both of the Royals teams to victory on the weekend.
Tova Andersson had a remarkable weekend, specifically in the team freestyle relay events as the freshman posted three top place finishes. Andersson recorded B cut times and won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.50), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:19.09), and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:23.05). In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Anderson would help the Royals team to setting a new event record.
In her individual events, Andersson would post B cut times in the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard backstroke. The rookie newcomer placed first in both IM events as well as the 200-yard backstroke.
Fellow teammate
Jan Delkeskamp received player of the week praise after consistently placing at the top and setting two records. In the 400-yard medley relay, Delkeskamp helped the team post a B cut time and event record of 3:12.82.
During the men's individual events, the senior took first place in two events as well as a second and third place finish. Delkeskamp won the 400-yard IM with an A cut time of 3:48.60 which automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Championships. The Germany native would proceed to break his own record in the 200-yard breastroke (1:56.28) which was set in the prelim as he tied with fellow teammate
Balazs Berecz. Delkeskamp would add a second place finish in the 200-yard IM and a third place finish in the 100-yard breastroke to conclude a spectacular weekend.
