CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head field hockey coach
Brandi Kist announces the addition of four to her program for the 2022 season. Enya Kemp will join the Royals next semester while Hensley Miller, Caroline Powell, and Gilyse Rivera will be welcomed to campus in the fall.
Kemp will join the Royals from Graaff-Reinet, South Africa where she attended Diocesan School for Girls. The forward/midfielder scored the most goals on her team during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. She was also a member of the 2019 U16 and 2020 U17 South African High Performance Teams, receiving the most improved player award.
"Enya will be a great addition to our program this spring," Kist stated. "We are excited to have her join us for development next semester for a nice transition into Queens and our team."
Miller will come to Queens from Cary, N.C., where she attends Cary Christian School. The varsity captain who plays both the midfield and defense positions was named 2021 Defensive Player of the Year and 2020 Player of the Year. She also earned the 2019 Coaches Award, was named all-state, and was selected for the 2021 U19 Nexus Championship after helping lead her team to the last three state quarterfinals. The NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honoree played club for the Carolina All-Stars as a team captain helping them become 2021 JPOL U19 region 8 Champions.
Powell, a Westport, Mass., native, currently attends Moses Brown School where she plays both the forward and midfield positions. She received Offensive MVP honors and was named to the all-state team. Powell played club for Allegiance Field Hockey.
Rivera is a product of East Stroudsburg, Pa., where she attends East Stroudsburg Senior High School North. The forward/midfielder was inducted into the East Stroudsburg North Athletic Hall of Fame as a junior and has been a varsity starter since her freshman season. She has served as team captain for two seasons with her high school and club team, the Marojoka Field Hockey Club. Rivera is also a two-time Eastern Pennsylvania Conference All-Conference All-Star.
