Gain Scores First Career Goal in Season Finale with Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (4-13) played its final match of the 2025 season this afternoon, falling 3-1 to Davidson College (10-8) on the road.    

INSIDE THE MATCH
After scoring two goals in the second quarter of action, the Wildcats took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.  
 
Sib Naaktgeboren put Davidson on top 3-0 in the third quarter with her second goal of the day before Queens' Olivia Gain got the Royals on the board with a goal in the 48th minute that gave the game its final score.
 
KEY STATS & NOTES
  • Olivia Gain's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
  • Madison Destefano recorded 11 saves in the match to bring her season total to 156. She completes the year as Queens' all-time leader in saves (291) after breaking her own single-season record set just last year.
  • Sarah Trask played 15 minutes in goal for Queens, recording one save.
  • Queens was outshot 30-6 as the Wildcats put 15 shots on goal compared to Queens' four shots on goal.
  • Davidson earned 12 penalty corners to Queens' two.
  • The 2025 season is the winningest Division I season for the Royals, who began the reclassification process to DI in 2022.
